“2+2= Whatever I want it to.”  No Will, it doesn’t.  This isn’t the world of The Secret.  Just because you’ve achieved great success through personal willpower doesn’t mean that everyone can.  Some advice, don’t travel to Darfur and tell the locals that they can achieve what they want if they just put their mind to it, especially considering that with your unheralded ability to achieve even the loftiest of goals you don’t cure aids, or even cancer.  No Will, you focus all of this power into killing aliens, pissing off your uncle, fighting the undead, pursuing happiness, and saving earth.

something worthy of a post: CoS has declared Bill Maher an SP in response to religulous: http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=_HEVGscKkHw#

whoever wrote this just made themselves sound like a dick. good job.. dont take it so serious.
“well thats just your opinion, man”

  3. Tyler Handley says:

    Opinions aside, 2+2 = 4.

  4. Jim Royal says:

It’s a metaphor. It’s deliberate hyperbole. He doesn’t literally believe that 2+2= whatever you want. He telling you to challenge assumptions.

  5. Tyler Handley says:

He’s talking about willpower. The willpower to do what you want and get what you want. In doing so he says that the answer to any question is the answer you want it to be…and I completely disagree with that.

  6. B8ovin says:

Is it just me or does one of his last sentences refer to “metaphysical nonsense”? Because if so, I couldn’t agree with him more. But maybe it’s true, I’ve never read “The Alchemist”, and apparently making this book your favorite allows you to turn the universe into water. Or something.

  7. brent says:

thats just your opinion. you silly people and your “facts”

  8. brent says:

plus, why does what he believes matter so much too you? some people jsut need shit to talk about

  9. AtheistGamer says:

Mathematics as we know it is established on a defined set of axioms that can not necessarily be proven as they are just givens.

For example, a + b = b + a is a non-logical axiom for which arithmetic is based on. It is defined to be true even though without it being true we can not prove it to be true or false.

So technically if he defines 2 + 2 = Whatever he wants it to, as long as he uses that to logically create a system of mathematics based off such a claim, then he should feel free to be able to do so.

But I agree, he needs to just get back to saving the world from aliens and not saving it from ourselves because obviously the Fresh Prince is not the best suited candidate for such a task.
